Igor Emmerich, Director & DOP, Folkestone, UK.

In September 2020, I was asked by a friend if I’d be interested in shooting a short film called The Beast of Romney Marsh.

The comedy was written by Michele Sheldon as a response to her mother dying and all the hideousness of Covid.

The film follows investigative TV reporter Paton Patel as he goes in search of The Beast of Romney Marsh by interviewing a series of strange residents. We’re hoping to make a second one following Paton investigating the mystery of missing skulls from an ossuary in Hythe, just further along the coast, and we have some other ideas for shorts that we’re developing too.

We’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the response we’ve had from film festivals.  We’ve won Best Comedy at the Falcon International Film Festival monthly, Best Lead Actor at Virgin Springs Cinefest, Cult Critic Film Festival and Tagore International Film Festival.  We were also finalists at the Prague International Monthly Film Festival and Kosice International Monthly Film Festival.
